Error message: Windows cannot access the specific device, path or file. (Install fails)

    Originally from ticket #26772.

    I used IDM latest version for the download.  I use windows 10

    After running the downloaded file with the messages

    1. extracting files to temp folder

    2. extracting from starry night proplus

    I get after the extracting is almost complete the message:

    Windows cannot access the spceific device, path or file. You may not have the appropriate permission to access the item.

    This last message is a windows message and if i click OK the installation stops and the screen closes.

    I would like to have the program working as i paid good money for the upgrade.

    Hi, It appeared to have been a number of reasons, I made sure that I had access to the temp file, I also disconnected the internet and switch off the virus protection. And off it went, thanks for the suggestions.

    Hi Hans,

    It sounds like setup.exe was successfully extracted to the temp folder. But running setup.exe failed.

    This issue can be caused by a few things.

    First, make sure that you have permission to access the files in the temp folder.

    If you do have permission, then it's very likely that your antivirus software blocked the execution of setup.exe. Turn it off before running the installer again.
