StarSense USB + SkyFi 3 | What cable do I need?

    Follow

The StarSense takes a USB-mini connector.  The SkyFi 3 takes a USB-micro.  So you would need a cable with those connectors.  We do not sell the cable.

You will not need an rs-232.

hi , I thought this would need an A-Male to Mini-B Cable? So A end into SkyFi3 and B into Starsense handset?

      e.g.

Using the cable posted initially, looks like you'd be plugging the Starsense into the Skyfi power socket, as that is what the mini-b is labelled as?

      Jamie,

Sorry no one got back to you on this. Did you ever get it to work? If not, it is likely you need to update the firmware in the SkyFi 3. The ability to connect to the new Celestron USB hand controllers was only added in version 1.3.x. The instruction for downloading and updating the firmware are on this page (midway down):

Bill - you didn't respond to the cable question, and I have the same one. Can we just use a standard USB A-Mail to Mini-B cable to connect the Starsense handset, as Jamie asked with his link example above, or do we have to purchase an unusual cable like the USB Mini-B to USB Micro-B ? The SkyFi III has both A and Micro ports - can I use the A port for simplicity?

No, we don't support serial control via USB on Android. It is on our list of possible enhancements
