Access Denied Error On MacOS? (Answer: Look At Xcode - Read On!)

I am running macOS Ventura 13.0.1.

Today I downloaded and installed "Starry Night Celestron Basic Edition version 8.1.1.2081 keEM".

I'm trying to go through the "Welcome Tour" to learn how to use the software but I am consistently running into this error:

AccessDeniedAccess Denied5B2Z1GZ2SM3QVFQBt2fIBAv8FzHrGcbYO/Ns5V0comU8yAqfgeNCtn8cWQbY3RmS3AvHoiiKgEzoIJ9P6o2y4VP0lNg=

Shown in the left side panel; the background of the side panel changes to white like a blank webpage and the error appears in a different font there font there.

Can you please help me address this issue? It's frustrating that my first time using the software I'm not able to navigate through the "Welcome Tour".

    Theresa,

    Please try reinstalling the software.

    Thanks!

    Hi Keiron Smith,

Thank you for the suggestion. I downloaded a new *.dmg from the link provided in the email though noticed it was identical versions. I installed again anyway and am still encountering the same issue.

I'm wondering if Starry Night isn't getting explicit permission from the OS to access certain file system paths? Are you able to list where on the filesystem the application needs permissions, then I can try modifying those via Terminal if the application doesn't have a means for requesting them explicitly.

Is this only an issue with the SkyGuide > Welcome Tour?  There are many links, many tours and simulations in SkyGuide.  How are the other links?

It’s happening frequently in almost every option that I click. The Welcome Tour is the easiest to consistently replicate.

Are you running any security software - or developer tools, Xcode, etc?

The links open web URLs.  The SkyGuide is streamed from the net.

So, if the links are not working something on your computer is blocking their access to the internet.

If you right-click, do you see these options?
