Observing list's "highlight objects" distinguish between what has already been observed and what has yet to be observed when viewing the star map.

It sure would be nice if, when turning on a observing list's "highlight objects" one would be able to distinguish between what has already been observed and what has yet to be observed when viewing the star map. Right now everything - previously checked off as observed or not appears inside a blue circle on the star map. It would be nice if colors were used to distinguish these objects - say blue (not yet observed) and perhaps red (already observed - would disappear when the night view option is turned on).

I second that although colors will be difficult to distinguish in night mode. I suggest bold and not bold or solid and dashed circles or shaded and non shaded circles.

Yes, I would find both of these approaches to distinguishing "observed" versus "yet to be observed" observing list identifications to be acceptable. Thanks, Michael, for these suggestions.

I too, would like this feature. I agree with the suggestion of using different symbols rather than different colors.

p.s. It is helpful if the subject line for a feature request names the feature. The forum title is already "Feature Requests".

I support this too - in fact was just about to ask for the very same.

Perhaps you could add an "exclude observed" option to the menu that pops up when one presses on the little "list" icon that sits bottom centre of the screen when an observing list has been selected. And of course an "include observed" when exclude is in effect ...

Come on guys, it's 2021 -  can we get this already? A few workable solutions have been offered and I am sure that some of them would work well. We want to be able to find what we have yet to see and use the app as a live, visual checklist. I would additionally like to see this used in a general sense. I just want a mode to be able to see everything that I have ever observed displayed differently in the star map for when I am just browsing around looking for DSOs I have never seen before or filter them out of the object search lists or something like that so I can hone in on what I have yet to find. Would also be nice to simply 'marvel at my feats' of observation in the star map just to remind myself of all the things that I have observed.

Within an observation list, this already exists. However, it would be great to be able to make an observation list and quickly determine if an object has been observed EVER before, as part of the list or another list. This really just gets back to being able to tag multiple lists with a single observation, a feature I HAVE to imagine is coming with SS7 later this year.
