I have a three year old iMac with 16 GB memory running Sierra. SkySafari 5.2 takes between 10 and 20 seconds to launch. Why is that? Thanks.

  Pete,

  Is that only the first time you run it?  If you quit and re-run, how long does it take?  Seems like many large apps on my iMac take around 7-10 sec to launch.  SkySafari Pro has a lot of data that need to be loaded so that could explain some of it.  The Lite version of SkySafari launches in 2-3 seconds for me.  Apple's security code does some scanning of the app when it is launched and I think the larger package size takes longer to process.

  I don't believe there is anything we can do to speed up the process.

  First SkySafari Pro Launch takes 20+ seconds. Subsequent launches take 10+ seconds.
