How to add panoramic horizon to SSP 5 on iPad -- iTunes no longer supports apps!

How to get the .png file into SSP 5 without iTunes. iCloud drive folder for SSP will not accept .png file. "Cannot upload this type of file to this app library."

I assume you upgraded or were forcibly upgraded to iTunes 12.7. Indeed, Apple has once again deleted functionality.

The first thing to try is dragging the file from the finder on your Mac to your iPhone connected to iTunes.

Second. Apple has apparently been blasted, rightly so, for the deletion of this vital function. In reply, they grudgingly released version 12.6.3, which can be installed over 12.7. it returns the functions, but Apple warns they won't support it. It will also activate the new iPhone 8, which before could only be done by 12.7.

If that fails, there is a third party app, iMazing which has iOS management features, including backups and app by app configuration. Apple Configurator 2 also has app management, but is designed for enterprise/ academic fleet management.

For now, the best option seems to be version 12.6.3. It has been confirmed to work with High Sierra.

Very, very, helpful reply. Thanks so much! I'm actually only on macOS Sierra, but somehow I missed the import of the message "the new iTunes focuses on music, movies, TV shows, podcasts, and audiobooks -- get your apps from the App Store."

Yes iTunes 12.7. The iTunes change is independent of macOS version. Many people are very unhappy with Apple's behaviors of late.

    Good luck.

I'm sorry, but maybe I've missed something.  What is the functionality that has been removed?  iTunes file sharing still works file in the latest iTunes and I use it every day.

Choose your device and on the left hand panel you will see the File Sharing option at the bottom of the "Settings" section.

My apologies. In iTunes 12.7, if you expand your device in the left panel, "Apps" are no longer present. In 12.6.x and before, the file sharing was accessed from there (or at least that was one possibility). That functionality is gone in 12.7, in which you can no longer buy, back up, or organize your apps.  However, in 12.7 if you select the device icon next to the "music, movies, etc." drop down (not, strictly speaking, the left hand panel), the settings panel appears, with file sharing as the last item, next to the "Application" symbol

It would still be simpler if you just allowed moving such images into SS from iCloud Drive, or if SS looked for such images in the SS iCloud Drive folder on opening, as it does for settings, equipment, etc. Just saying.

I forget why we didn't allow syncing of .png files in SkySafari 5.  There may have been a technical reason.  In any case the iTunes File Sharing is still in the latest version of SkySafari and you can place the image that way.
