SiTech | Connects To SkyFi 3 But Disconnects When Using SkySafari Telescope Control Buttons (Answer: We Need Further Testing)

i am using a SiTech controller with SkyFi 3 and skysafari 5 pro.
I have two questions :
1) When I choose the SiTech controller in telescope setup in SkySafari 5 pro,"time and location" turns green and cannot be changed.
Why is this ?
2)After connecting SkyFi 3 to the SiTech controller a few seconds later I get a note "connection failure the telescope is not responding.."
Baud rate is 19200 and connection is created.
The SkyFi 3 works ok with ArgoNavis.
SkyFi 2 works ok on the other hand.
Any idea ?
Thanks
Sam

    1. It is tuned ON and disabled because the SiTech controller must be sent that info.  You have no choice.

2 If SkyFi 2 works ok, then it is probably not a serial cable or settings problem.  I think we had a firmware update that addressed a SiTech problem.  You should probably grab the latest firmware and install it on SkyFi 3.  Go to http://www.skysafariastronomy.com/skyfi-3-professional-astronomy-telescope-control.html (midway down the page).

    Hello bill

I am using version 1.3.3 and Skyfi 3 connects for a few seconds and as soon as I use the handpad or the arrows on the screen,

    it disconnects.

Could you please capture a telescope log file and email it to me at "bill at simcur dot com"?  The procedure for doing this is at the bottom of the Help page

Help > Settings Help > Scope Setup Help.

This is affecting me as well. Firmware shows SkyFi 1.3.4 as version, using SkySafari 5 Pro iOS, SkySafari 6 Pro iOS on iPhone 7 Plus, using SiTech Controller 1. Exact same behaviour on both versions of SkySafari iOS:

    1. Turn on everything (power up SkyFi 3, launch the app)
    2. Ensure Scope Setup is set to SiTech, Alt/Az GoTo or SiTech Alt/Az Push To (makes no diff)
    3. Connect to Scope (points to north)
    4. Align to a star close to where scope is pointing
    5. Push button to move the scope then I see the FOV move with scope for 1 second and WHAMMO, disconnects
    6. Try reconnect and get immediate connection error until resetting SkyFi 3 unit. Repeat above...

This seems to have been a known problem for quite a while according to this thread. Any word on a fix? I would very much appreciate it. I cannot use Goto or PushTo at all.

    Thank you,

    Rick

    Rick,

We have no way to reproduce this since we don't have a SiTech system in house.  Could you send us a scope log file for us to look at?  The instructions for doing so are in the Help section Help > Settings Help > Scope Setup Help (near the bottom of the page).  You can send it to bill@simcur.com.

    Same problem here.

We have a SiTech Controller II connected to a Mathis fork mount. It was working reliably with an Android tablet and bluetooth connected to the SiTech.

Then we upgraded to an ipad and the latest version of Sky Safari, so had to get a SkyFi3. Wifi connects and remains stable. It worked for a few seconds and I could slew the scope manually using the screen buttons, then it stopped working. I get a connection failure, unable to connect to scope, or a connection failure message that says it can connect to wifi but the scope is not responding.

    Mark,

Can you still make it work reliably with an Android tablet?

    Thanks!
