How Come Their Are No Images For Deep Sky Images in SkySafari 7 Pro? (Answer: Images Are Only Included For The Most Popular Objects, But You Can Download A DSS Image For Any Object - Read On!)

Hi there, I bought this app simply to browse ours and other galaxies to intro my 4yo son to astronomy, therefore the galaxy & orbit function is everything I need for that zoom perspective to get an impression of distances etc. but when I zoom on many deep space galaxies, the zoom leads to nothing, no image so the experience is not there. Is this a bug?

    Steve,

Only the most popular DeepSky objects - both in the MilkWay and outside of it - have images included in the app.

There are too many objects in the night sky to include an image for everything.

However, you should be able to download a DSS image for any galaxy you want to see.

On the DeepSky object info page choose "MORE" and download DSS.

Sorry, you won't see the galaxies simulated in 3D.

    Thanks!

If you want to see galaxies simulated in 3D consider getting Starry Night Pro 8 which comes with the Extragalactic 3D Database (exclusive).

    https://www.starrynight.com/starry-night-8-professional-astronomy-telescope-control-software.html

Please note these are simulated based on data, and not always exactly what you would see if viewing through, say, the Hubble Space Telescope.
