    Hi all,

I have found the answer: on modern android devices (without SD card slot) with newer versions of android (e.g. Android 13 for the Samsung S23) you have no access to the app data folders via the smartphone itself.

You have to connect your device via USB to a computer, where it can now be accessed via MTP with your file explorer, like Windows Explorer: now you can place your custom horizon file to the data folder of the internal storage, e.g.:

    Galaxy S23\Interner Speicher\Android\data\com.simulationcurriculum.skysafari7pro\files\Horizon Panoramas

Maybe the documentation of SS7 could be updated with this information, thanks.

    Best regards,

    Markus

I 've been using the Marukus' solution on my older Pixel with Android 13 for a few years BUT I have just upgraded to Pixel 8 with Android 14 and now cannot make this work. That folder is not visible from a computer via the USB. It's also not visible via various file explorers on the device itself (I even paid for one that was recommended in another forum). It seems google have locked down access to that file location. I've tried enabling developer mode but that didn't help. Elsewhere I saw that SkySafari also looks in /SkySafari/Panoramas but that did not work for me. I am surrounded by trees so I have ten horizons from different parts of the yard that let me plan where to set up. Without them, I'm at a loss.

I think the best solution would be, that SS7 offers a file selection dialogue where you can choose the horizon file in your accessible data directories where you have stored it.

Maybe this feature request could be combined with the new implementation of this:

markusd112 Thanks for suggestion. I put in a feature request. Fingers crossed! In the meantime, I'll have to use SS6 on an older tablet.

On Android 13 I can access the folder here:

    \Android\data\com.simulationcurriculum.skysafari7pro\files\Horizon Panoramas

I don't have an update yet for Android 14, so can't check/test at this time.  But, will do as soon as it becomes available.

Thanks for the discussion, very informative!
