markusd112 Hi all,
I have found the answer: on modern android devices (without SD card slot) with newer versions of android (e.g. Android 13 for the Samsung S23) you have no access to the app data folders via the smartphone itself.
You have to connect your device via USB to a computer, where it can now be accessed via MTP with your file explorer, like Windows Explorer: now you can place your custom horizon file to the data folder of the internal storage, e.g.:
Galaxy S23\Interner Speicher\Android\data\com.simulationcurriculum.skysafari7pro\files\Horizon Panoramas
Maybe the documentation of SS7 could be updated with this information, thanks.
Best regards,
Markus

markusd112 I think the best solution would be, that SS7 offers a file selection dialogue where you can choose the horizon file in your accessible data directories where you have stored it.
Maybe this feature request could be combined with the new implementation of this:

Keiron Smith On Android 13 I can access the folder here:
\Android\data\com.simulationcurriculum.skysafari7pro\files\Horizon Panoramas
I don't have an update yet for Android 14, so can't check/test at this time. But, will do as soon as it becomes available.
Thanks for the discussion, very informative!

Yoji Ohashi I have tested some file managers to access the \Android\data folder on Android 14.
MiXplorer Silver (Hootan Parsa): No
File Manager Plus (File Manager Plus): No
Files by Google (Google LLC): No
ZArchiver (ZDevs): YesFinally, I was able to transfer my own horizon PNG file to SkySafari 7 Pro using ZArchiver.

Keiron Smith Thanks, Mark!

Alistair Adcroft I 've been using the Marukus' solution on my older Pixel with Android 13 for a few years BUT I have just upgraded to Pixel 8 with Android 14 and now cannot make this work. That folder is not visible from a computer via the USB. It's also not visible via various file explorers on the device itself (I even paid for one that was recommended in another forum). It seems google have locked down access to that file location. I've tried enabling developer mode but that didn't help. Elsewhere I saw that SkySafari also looks in /SkySafari/Panoramas but that did not work for me. I am surrounded by trees so I have ten horizons from different parts of the yard that let me plan where to set up. Without them, I'm at a loss.

Alistair Adcroft markusd112 Thanks for suggestion. I put in a feature request. Fingers crossed! In the meantime, I'll have to use SS6 on an older tablet.

Alistair Adcroft Is there any chance SS7 will be able to read the panoramas from a user accessible folder in the near future?
-
markusd112 My Samsung Galaxy S23 has got an upgrade to android 14 and I can still access the internal directory as mentioned in my previous posts.
It would be very helpful to have some easier way to store a panorama graphics in the SS7 settings GUI.

Alistair Adcroft This must be vendor related: on my Pixel 8 Pro with Android 14 I can see some folders under \Android\data\ but not com.simulationcurriculum.* . My phone is not rooted - is that the difference?

Yoji Ohashi I cannot access the folder of
\Android\data\com.simulationcurriculum.skysafari7pro\
on Android 14.It was possible to access the folder on my Pixel7 Pro with Android 13. However, it is impossible to access the folder after upgrading to Android 14.
Fortunately, I can use SkySafari 7 pro with my own horizon .PNG file with Android 14 because I placed the .PNG file before upgrading from Android 13.
I get a new android 14 phone. I cannot transfer the same horizon .PNG file to the new phone.

Alistair Adcroft Thank you Yoji - ZArchiver worked for me too.
