SS7 Not Responding Or Crashing On Android 13 - This Is A Thread Lock Up Issue (Go To Help > Email Log File - Please Read! But, FIXED in latest UPDATE)

Developers are looking for more info about this issue.  It mostly affects older Android device that have updated to the latest version of Android 13.

If you're encountering frequent crashing or "app not responding" issues please create a screen recording of the issue with the SS7 app crashing, not responding, the error messages, etc.

In the recording include the SS7 version number (See Help > scroll to the bottom) as well as Android OS specs and device info.

Make sure you're running the latest SS7 beta.

Share a link below to the screen recording using DropBox or similar file sharing service.

Please also induce a crash, then send the log.  See Help > Email Log File.

Post the log file in a reply here.

And, if you REALLY want to help, please collect a bug report which is a little more complicated but possibly a little more helpful for developers.

2. Email yourself a log file, post it here.
3. Fill out the bug report.

Developers are working on the issue, but it will would be helpful to see exactly what is happening on your device specifically.

  I will have a look at capturing a log file too. I'm up to date with the latest beta Pro 7.1.10.5, and still getting the problem 95% of the time. If the app manages to start quickly enough that it doesn't trigger the first warning, then it will work, though it may be triggered later on if you select an intensive operation, like listing all observations.

  I'm still in the Beta, so says Google Play. I'll be on the lookout for any changes in SS7PRO. I am NOT suffering from the App crash at this time.

  Developers have released a new update, 7.1.10, which should resolve the startup issues encountered by users of SkySafari 7 on Android 13.

  1. Please uninstall the current version.
  2. Visit SkySafari 7 in the Google Play Store
  3. Scroll to the bottom of the app listing and choose to join the beta.

  SkySafari auto updated for me. Launching the app everything is working now and I've confirmed the version is updated. 

  I set the object densities fairly high which seemed like it was a factor and relaunched a few times. All looks good. Thanks for this update!

  One question, this is the beta. At what time do we move back to the released version and will that be automatic?

  I reinstalled the app and early indications are very good. No more error messages. I haven't tested it in the field yet, but I have successfully restarted it several times. Thanks for resolving this issue. SkySafari 7 Pro is a great product.

  I have also updated to the latest Beta (SS7 Pro 7.1.10.8). Although I was Not suffering from the App Crash I am happy to report all looks good so far. FWIW, I have noticed the app does seem to be a little bit "snappier" from the last release!

  Autoupdated to 7.1.10.8 on my Android 13 Lenovo tablet.

  Interesting - the first time I launched it, I got the usual problem - "not responding" dialog, keeps coming back when dismissed. But from then on, I've not had the warning appear at all. I've restarted several times and rebooted, and it seems to work fine.

  As reported by others above, the app seems to be responding faster to operations that previously took a few seconds to execute (usually, this was anything attempting to display a long list), so I'm wondering if the previous looping behaviour is not now manifesting because the initial timeout is never triggered in the first place?

  Anyway, it seems to be fixed, so thanks.

  The tablet connects to the mount but the app does not.

  - SkySafari Plus 7.1.10.8  (updated 13/02/2024)

  Edit: since my original post, I see my version is the same as posts above (7.1.10.8). I don't know what to do.
