Despite 3-star align and "align scope", I find I am often 1/3 of the field off-center. Instead of changing the slew speed and trying to hold the arrows for the right amount, dang overshot, find the other arrow to move it back, it would be preferable to have 4 extra buttons to nudge the scope 1/3 of the field of view (the app knows what size the current field is).The screen loses sensitivity in the cold, so it would be nice to have a positive single tap to get the desired movement. The buttons could be placed above/below the current ones, and of course configurable to be visible or not if a user doesn't want them. I'm been enjoying using the app to drive the mount and record obs, keep going!

Mike Atkins What scope are you using and does it have an alignment procedure to set it up before connecting to SkySafari?
Marco has SynScan For control. If I do not complete an alignment first,
Go-To can be less than accurate. So to speak. Even when I do analyze before connecting to SkySafari, targets are never dead center. -
Alister Ling An Atlas EQ-G with a new EQ6 Pro motherboard. SynScan Pro app using WiFi dongle does the initial 3-star align (and because I move the tripod around the yard from night to night to avoid trees, I make sure I reset the alignment).. It's *quite* good, often only 1/4 off-center or better. But often enough 1/3 of the field off, annoying. Yes, I could do a "precise goto" or first align on a nearby bright object, but that's extra steps un-needed when one simple tap handles the issue, and typically I do hit align if it was a 1/2 field off before going to my next object (on the same side of the meridian). Don't get me wrong, this is fantastic compared to manual offsets I did in the 1980s, very enjoyable.

Mike Atkins Ok, I'm quite familiar with SynScan. I start my alignment by making sure the mount is level and then complete a 2-star alignment or north level when using a Dob. Once I switch over to SkySafari it's not uncommon to be not centered when going to an object. I do alignment on each in SS after centering. This is particularly noticeable if the next target is farther away than 50-60 degrees.
