    Hello Kurt,

Are you running Starry Night from a Standard user account (non-admin)? Please ensure that you have write permissions to Sky Guide/Conductor folder and its subfolders.

This is my own personnal computer, I have no restrictions.

I've tried updating this program, it doesn't seem to be able to find the internet connection!

I tried mannually updating the program, that failed!

This is the worst program I've had in years!  Nothing functions properly.

I tried the manual update and now the program will not open!

I get a messege "... problem openning the Preferences file.  Try throwing it out and starting again."

What kind of error messege is that?

I can't any file named preferences.

    Hello Kurt,

Please ensure that the error message has been closed and go to

C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Imaginova Canada Ltd. (if you cannot access AppData you have to click on the address bar on top of Windows Explorer and add AppData to the path)

Now delete the folder Prefs contained in Imaginova Canada Ltd.

You should the be able to start Starry Night Pro Plus without problems. You will need to re-enter your registration information however upon startup.

Kurt, I realize that this can is frustrating but we are trying to get you up and running as quickly as possible. Please right click on the Starry Night icon and choose Run as Administrator. This should definitely fix the problem with the SkyGuide tab.

Yes it fixes the problem temporarily but do you really expect a user to have to keep doing that every time?

Now what about the when I have it check for updates, it either crashes and closes the program or it locks up and I can't do anything except go to task manager and end program.

I stand by my previous statement, (see above), "This is the worst program I've had in years!  Nothing functions properly."

Kurt, you could right click on the icon and go to Properties and then Compatibility tab and check "Run this program as admnistrator". This will ensure that you don't have to pick "Run as administrator" every time.

The issue itself occurs only on some systems and we are working on solving it for everyone. The fix should be in one of the next couple of updates.

The data updates itself should work just fine. We did experience a server outage yesterday that may have affected you. Are you still having issues with data updates?
