I am able to connect the SkyPortal wifi module to the SkyPortal app, but I would like to connect to SkySafari Pro 5 instead. How do I go about doing this? Will I be able to align from SkySafari Pro 5 like I can from SkyPortal?

Keiron Smith Hi Rich,
Yes, you can align using SkySafari 5 for iOS. Choose 'Celestron WiFi" from the scope type settings in SkySafari. Make sure you are joined to the Celestron WiFi network in your iOS device. Choose 'Connect & Align' in SkySafari's telescope options.
Please let me know if any further assistance is required.
Thanks and clear skies!

Martin A. Sebestyen Hello Keiron,
I have bought skysafari 5 pro for android last week, but I cannot connect my Celestron CGEM mounting with the wifi Skyportal module to my android tablet (Samsung Galaxy Tab S2) or to my smartphone (Samsung Note 4). I have Android 6.0.1 in both devices. I have tried the direct connection and the access point connection. Every time I press "connect" or "connect and align" to my telescope on Skysafari the app crashes.
Using the wifi Skyportal module with the Celestron Skyportal app works perfect.
Have you heard that problem before ? Is there a solution ?

Keiron Smith Hi Martin,
Apologies for the slow reply.
If the SkyPortal WiFi module works with the Celestron SkyPortal app then the problem is in the settings for SkySafari. However, the SkySafari app should not be crashing regardless.
1. Please check in SkySafari 5 Pro that you have the correct ScopeType setting set (as you have in SkyPortal app).
2. Please check Telescope Setup ---> Common Settings ---> Set Time & Location <--- what is this set to in SkyPortal? Makes sure it is the same in SkySafari 5 Pro.
3. Ensure you have made a proper bluetooth connection with both the Andoird devie and then also in SkySafari 5 Pro.
4. If the crash persists, please cpature a Log File, open a ticket here, and send the log file to me.
Thanks!

Joe Thornton How do I get my Celestron Nexstar 8se to connect to SkySafari 5 Pro when using the celestron SkyPortal wifi unit?
It connects with no problems to the Celestron SkyPortal software (stripped down version of SkySafari 5).
I just can't get it to connect to my SkySafari 5 Pro.
Both are installed on an android tablet. Android version 6.01.
The wifi module is switched to the direct connect mode. Not sure what the access point mode is for.
Scope type is set for Celestron Nexstar GPS/SLT/SE.
Mount Type - Alt-Az GoTo.
Under communications settings the screen shows Connect via WiFi, IP Address 10.0.0.1 and Port Number 4030.
What do I need to do get it to connect to my scope.

Keiron Smith Hi Joe,
You must choose "Celestron WiFi" in ScopeType settings.
Thanks!
