SkySafari + Guide Camera?

Originally from ticket #25479.

SkySafari 4 Pro, iMac 5K, OSX 10.11 El Capitan.

Celstron AVX Mount, SkyQLink (aka Sky WiFi etc), Celestron StarSense AutoAlign

Before I start trying to set it up, is it possible to use auto guiding in connection with the SkyFi and SkySafari?

I want to have my tracking as accurate as possible, and I can't find a reference to auto guiding (well, third read through your manuals so far).

I was thinking - probably use PHD2 with a QHY6

Bill Tschumy replies:

SkySafari doesn't do any auto-guiding however, it shouldn't interfere with any auto guiding software you are running.

Ticket update:

I was aware that skySafari didn’t do guiding of itself - just wanted to check it wasn’t going to be impacted by alternative guiding software.

BTW are there plans to support guiding under r the guise of a ‘rounded’ application?

Cheers

Bill Tschumy replies:

No, I'm not aware of any negative impacts by guiding software. They should interoperate.

No, we don't have plans to support guiding from within the app. That would lead us down the slippery slope of making a full AP app. We might do that in the future as a different app, but it is not something we would build into SkySafari.

I have both SkyPortal and SkySafari Pro apps. I am able to connect with SkySafariPro, but not SkyPortal. I never see any Celestron network to log into. I would prefer to use SkyPorta to combine with Celestron StarSense.

An additional problem is SkySafari does not goto correctly when used with StarSense

SkyPortal can only connect to a Celestron Wi-Fi mount.  You need an Evolution mount or one of Celestron's Wi-Fi adapters like SkyQ Link.

SkySafari should fork just fine with StarSense.  It it is not you should open a trouble ticket.
