skysafari pro for Windows?

I have sky safari pro. My iPad is out of date, and I received a surface pro 3 running windows 8.1. as a replacement gift.

I would like to know if I can use sky safari pro on my new touch screen lap top, and what kind of new hardware would I need for connecting to AVX mount and Orion Intelliscope.  Thanks, CJMagiera

    Hi CJ,

SkySafari is not compatible with Windows PC.  It is only available for Android, iOS, and Mac OSX.

I run Sky Safari 4 Pro on my Windows 7 HP Laptop using the BlueStacks Android emulator which works very well indeed.  Easy to install and free as well.  :)

Hi folks, I'm also interested to run SkySafari Pro on a Surface Pro. Using Blue Stacks, can you connect and manage a telescope through the hardware?  Has anyone successfully done this? I have a Celestron CG5 GT (goto mount) and using the Celestron wifi adapter on it.  This connects and works fine from SkySafari on an Android or Apple device, just curious if anyone has tried this on the Blue Stack or other emulator software.

I tried bluestacks and leapdroid. Here is a review of some of the emulators:

SkySafari failed on both for me, it wouldn't start. I didn't try to troubleshoot or get to trying to access hardware through the Windows VM though, too busy, I just went and bought an iPad at Costco and put SkySafari Pro on that. Haven't had time to hook it up to the scope yet, but pretty sure that's a no brainer as it is a very common usecase/setup.

I mean to add - I definitely would prefer to run this on my Windows laptop (Surface Pro 3). I dislike Apple products a lot, and I run everything else on my laptop. I have about 10 astronomy programs, then I have to bring along this crappy tablet for the scope... so honestly, I doubt I'll use it much except for outreach when I'm with schools and kids to show them astronomy. They like the visual stuff -  So please Simulation Corp. get busy with a real version of SkySafari fully supported on Windows. The entire Astronomy community has to move to windows to get the advanced software for imaging, you are being left behind.

I have SkySafari 5 pro running on Bluestacks but Bluestacks does not support Bluetooth. Has anyone been able to make a bluetooth connection with an Android simulator on a windows 10 PC??

    thanks in advance,

Cfichter - you are very much wrong re: "The entire Astronomy community has to move to windows to get the advanced software for imaging, you are being left behind.".

Go check out PixInsight (it runs natively on GNU/Linux, as well as OS X, Windows and freeBSD).

The Sky also runs on OS X (and Windows and GNU/Linux)

Just proving a point that you are very much wrong in your assertion.
