[Scope Control]* Starsense Explorer Will Not Open Camera To Align Using iPhone 15 + iOS 17.6.1 (Solution: Update To Latest Version)

After unlocking StarSense explorer within SkySafari 7 I cannot use it on iPhone 15 pro iOS 17.6.1When I start scope functionality it asked if alignment is needed. When I try to align the camera does not open and the screen is black. Also the cancel button does not work. I am forced to close the sky safari app. Camera permission is given and the camera opens fine in the Celestron star sense app. Just will not open camera in sky safari 7.

I have the exact same problem - When I want to use the StarSense functionality, I click on Connect via scope, select Needs alignment and continue the alignment process until the ‘Center Camera over mirror’. My screen remains black, even with the Night Mode toggle. If I continue the steps until the ‘ Drag image to align crosshairs’, the screen remains black. When I finish the alignment process, it’s not aligned at all and SkySafari is lost, even displaying a weird message ‘Celestron StarSense Explorer and other messages here’

The default StarSense Explorer app provided by Celestron with the exact same alignment process works without any issues. The camera itself also works.  Rebooted my iPhone 14 with iOS 18.0.1 several times, checked and reset all camera settings (all ok) and even re-installed SkySafari.. nothing resolved the issue.

I’m surprised more people aren’t chiming in on the Internet with this problem. guess we will just hang out and wait. See if they do anything about it. Sounds like we are having the exact same issue.

    Hi K E, Timothy,

Check the App Store for app updates.

    Then please provide the following:

    1. App and version.  See Help > scroll to the bottom.
    2. OS version.
    3. Device make and model.
    4. Screen recording that shows this issue using SS7.
    5. Test and confirm whether the official Celestron StarSense Explorer app is working properly with your devices.

Please share the screen recording link using Dropbox, iCloud, Google Drive, etc.

    Thanks for your reports.

    Devs will fix it asap.

    Hi Keiron,

    Here are my answers:

    1. App and version: 7.5.1 Plus (1118)
    2. OS version: iOS 18.0.1 and 18.1
(upgraded today to 18.1, didn’t resolve the issue)
    3. Device make and model: Apple iPhone 14 (MPVA3ZD/A)
    4. Screen recording that shows this issue using SS7: https://1drv.ms/v/s!AqPQvysD_EEPgb844EwLZOLmslo3cw

    5. Test and confirm whether the official Celestron StarSense Explorer app is working properly with your devices: Tested again today on iOs 18.1, works like a charm.

Does the Beta testing of SkySafari via Testflight an unlock key from Celestron to test the StarSense functionality?
