SkyWire | Error Message: This Device Is Not Suitable For This iPad (iOS 11.2)

A serial connection between my ioptron cem60 and skysafari 6 works perfectly on my macbook pro. However skysafari 6 pro on my iPad (11.2.2) with Skywire does not work anymore. In first instance I get a message successful connection with Skywire but within 2 sec I get a message that this device is not compatible.
What can I do or is the skywire not compatible in recent devices anymore?
Thanks in advance.

    Wim,

Not sure what is happening.  SkyWire is still compatible with the latest iOS version and recent devices.

Have you tried rebooting the device?  Perhaps it is in some strange state.

It sounds like you are getting this message even before trying to connect to a scope?

Does the first message say "Your SkyWire accessory has been successfully connected."?

What is the second message?  It doesn't sound like anything displayed by SkySafari.

Bill, the first message is indeed Your SkyWire accessory has been successfully connected (blue background). Thereafter a message This device is not suitable for this iPad (white background). Last year I updated SkySafari from 5 pro to 6 pro on both iPhone and iPad

I have an iPad pro with iOS 11.2. My iPhone 5 with iOS 10.3.3 works fine. So I think it is the operating system because last year on iOS 10.x.x, the iPad worked well.

I really don't think it is the operating system.  I am on iOS 11 and have seen no problems with the SkyWire.  I suspect you have a hardware problem somewhere.  Could be your lightning port on the iPad or possibly the lightning connector on the SkyWire.

You might try cleaning the lightning port and connector.  Possibly some dust/dirt has gotten in there.  I've found that moistening the tip of a toothpick and working it around in the port can clean out the gunk.

I occasionally see this same message while I'm developing and my iPad is plugged into my computer (regular charging cable, not SkyWire).  I generally just unplug and re-plug it in, sometimes flipping it over.

    Hi Bill,

The toothpick worked perfectly. SkyWire on my iPad works again. I seems to be a common problem with this port.
    Thanks again.

    Wim,

Glad to hear it was a simple solution.  Enjoy.
