SkySafari 6 Pro | iPad iOS 11.2.5 Cannot Email Observing Lists - Error Message: This Device Cannot Send Email (Solution: Apple Mail App Must Be installed)

I am running Sky Safari pro v6 and wish to send myself a copy of one oobserving lists.  When I open the observing list and go into “Actions and Settings” and click on “Email observing list” I receive the message “This device can’t send email”. This of course is not true as I can definitely send email. I am running an iPad are with IOS 11.2.5 and Sky Safari Pro 6 v6.0.05.33. This happens with all of the observing lists that I have.

any ideas please?

    A quick update to this post. I have installed SS6 on my iPhone and it sends the observing list by email ok so the problem is confined to my iPad.

    The the error message literally “This device can’t send email”?  I'm trying to track down if this is generated by our app or by iOS.

    The exact message that I receive is "This Device Cannot Send Email". See screenshot below.
    The message appears straight away when I press the 'Email Observing List' icon.

    As indicated above, it works fine on my iPhone.

    I'm not sure what can be going on.  We display that message when the Apple function

    [MFMailComposeViewController canSendMail]

    returns NO;

    Generally this means that you don't have any mail accounts enabled on the device.  When you say you can definitely send email, do you mean from the Mail app?  Sending email through a web-based interface doesn't count.

    If you go to the iOS Settings > Accounts & Passwords, do you see "Mail" listed for any of your accounts?

    Ok, that has fixed it but there was an extra step that I had to go through which is worth noting in case others have a similar issue.

    I am running the Gmail app for mail on the iPad and had deleted the Apple mail app. When I added in my Gmail account under “Accounts and Passwords” in the Apple IOS this then allowed Sky Safari to access mail and the error message reported above went away. The problem then was that the ‘send’ option did not appear on the email dialogue box. A quick Google search led me to the solution which is that the Apple mail app still needs to be present when sending mail from other apps,  even if you are not using the Apple mail app. I I reinstalled the Apple mail app and all is now good.

    Many thanks for your help.
