I was successfully using SkySafari 5 Pro with an IOptron AZ Mount pro when it disconnected with the following error message during an observation session: "Connection Failure SkySafari 5 Pro can make a wireless network connection to the scope, but the scope is not responding. Make sure its is connected and powered on. Also check that your scope type is correct."
After several unsuccessful attempts to re establish a connection with the scope I contacted IOptron support regarding the issue. They had me reinstall the firmware and check the circuit board and WiFi connections, all to no avail. They finally sent me a new circuit board to remedy the problem, but the issue still continues despite the new, fully tested circuit board and WiFi module and updated firmware. I have checked all of my SkySafari settings, I have tried to connect with both an Ipad (the original device I had connected with) and an Iphone with SkySafari 5 Pro installed, and I have upgraded to SkySafari 6 Pro, all to no avail. IOptron support is at a loss as to how to fix this, so I am wondering if it is an issue with the software. I have been using SkySafari on an IPad running IOS version 10.3.2, with no change or update since the original issue occurred. Thank you for your help!

Keiron Smith Hi John,
Are you using the iOptron StarFi WiFi Adapter?
-
John Biagiotti No, I'm just connecting using the WiFi on my Ipad and the built in WiFi on the IOptron mount.

Keiron Smith Hi John,
Please read this and let me know where you encounter difficulty:
It is the same scope as yours. And, it works.

John Biagiotti Hi Keiron,
Thanks for the help! My settings all match the user manual settings and I had already double and triple checked that the port number and IP address were correct. But it looks like I resolved the issue after doing some online research. Someone on the CloudyNights forum mentioned a fix they had with found with an IOptron mount by removing a velcro attachment they had added to the mount. I had added a small monitor mount to the top of my mount using velcro, so I tried removing it and magically I am now able to connect and control the scope from the SkySafari App. It looks like that may have interfered with the signal in such a way as to block the communication between the mount and the app. I'll let IOptron know about the issue, as it would be simple enough to instruct users not to attach items to the mount, or delineate where attachments can safely be done.
Cheers!
John
