SkySafari 6 Pro | Where Has The Display Of Object RA and Dec Gone? (Answer: Removed When Connected To Scope To Save Screen Space)

It seems that the RA and Dec of objects has disappeared from v6 of SkySafari. I was using v4 before, which had this vital information. Am i just missing how to display it?

    Rhodri,

I'm not totally sure what you are referring to.  We did remove the display of the scope RA/Dec at the top of the screen when you are connected to the scope.  We felt this info wasn't critical and we wanted to reclaim some screen real estate.

What are you doing that you would like that information back?

I am talking about the “information” that comes up about an object, the “object info”. This information, Which for example will have the magnitude of an object, and its rise, transit and set time, used to also have the objext’s RA and Dec. I am a professional astrophysicist and used to use SkySafari to quickly find out an object’s RA and Dec, particularly if I was offline. SkySafari 6 seems to have removed this information in “object info”

To our knowledge we have not removed this.  In SS6 you get to the Info from the Selection button.  However once you display the info it should be the same as previous version of SkySafari.  Are you seeing this with all objects or is there a particular object it is missing from?

I'm really at a loss as to what you are seeing.

    Hi Rhodri,

Is it possible you are thinking about the Starry Night heads up display (HUD)?  Starry Night includes the info you are discussing when you mouse over an object in the night sky.

If you're sure this was in SkySafari please take a screenshot of the SkySafari window where this info used to appear.  Please use some kind of mark-up on the screenshot to point to where you found the info previously.  Attach the screenshot here.

    Thanks!

I'm having the same problem with the basic SkySafari app, and our mobile devices are not being connected to any telescopes.  I teach Astronomy and have all my students get the basic SkySafari app.  It seems iPhone users do not get the RA/Dec info, but Android users do.  I'm an iPhone user and this is what I see.  (It would be really nice to have the RA and Dec info included in the CELESTIAL COORDINATES section along with Azimuth and Altitude.  (I've started a new thread: SkySafari 6 | No Display Of Object RA and Dec Even When Not Connected To Scope.)
