How To Resolve "Invalid Equipment Combination" Error Message? (Answer: Likely, You Specified A Telescope But No Eyepiece Or Camera)

I am trying to add a Celestron f/6.3 Reducer-Corrector and a 2X Barlow to my equipment list and when I go into Scope, I get a message Invalid Equipment Combination.  I have added my Plossi 40, X-Cel 9 and DeLIte 13 and they all work.  I have a Celstron Nexstar Evolution 8 added to my equipment list.

What do you mean by "go into Scope"?

Are you able to add the equipment to your equipment list without a problem?  Is it when you are trying to use the equipment in a FOV indicator?

    Hi Bill,

I should of been more detailed.  I am able to add my equipment with no problem including my various eye pieces using the 'observe' option.  When I go into Observe then 'Scope Display' I have three entries with my three different eye pieces.  The fourth item is Choose Equipment and below that there is a message 'Invalid Equipment Combination and that happened because I was trying to add my barlow or focal reducer.

Because I am getting the Invalid Equipment Combination on the 'Scope Display' under Observe, I am unable to see the focal reducer or barlow lens in my FOV when I am targeting an object in Sky Safari.  I can see the FOV on my other three eye pieces just fine on the target when using Sky Safari.

My guess is the "Invalid Equipment Combination" has nothing to do with the equipment you added.  Generally this means you have specified a telescope but no eyepiece or camera.  Click on the entry and edit it to make sure you have a valid set to calculate the FOV.

I was able to get this to work my adding my eyepiece along with the Barlow or Focal Reducer.  When I was trying to add it, I was forgetting to add the eye piece and that's what it was complaining about.

    Yep, that will do it.
