iPad Mini (1st Gen) + iOS 9.3.5 AR Crasher - And Strange Compass Calibration Behaviour

About 2-3 seconds after I touch/click the new AR button, after first enabling compass, the app appears to crash completely. I am returned to my Ipad Mini's homescreen.

This is repeatable. It happens every time I try to click the AR button, even after shutting down and restarting the iPad Mini.

Sometimes (not every time) after enabling compass mode in the app, before I try to touch the AR button, I am getting the device's compass calibration circle very briefly appearing onscreen then disappearing, repeatedly every second or two, for perhaps 10 or twenty times in a row, before that eventually stops happening and I can then attempt to touch the AR button, which then crashes the app, every time, whether or not the compass calibration misbehaved.

Skysafari version: 6.2.0.4

iOS version: 9.3.5 (13G36) - highest version my device can run.

Device:An older (1st Generation) iPad Mini (Model A1432).

Thank you for this report!  I have reproduced this crash on iPad Mini (1st Generation) running iOS 9.3.5.

Not sure we can fix this.  We might have to make the AR feature for iOS 10 and higher.

Thanks Keiron. That approach would would mean the end of my testing of AR on the iOS version of the app as that generation of Ipad Mini can't go above iOS version 9.3.5, so hopefully you can find a way of avoiding the crash. Am I the only tester who has reported anything so far? Mine seems to be the only testing feedback comment in the thread? I do have a number of Android devices that I can use for further testing when you get to doing the Android version changes.

We have received a hew more reports now.  I don't think we can fix the crash issue on iOS 9.3.5.  New iOS features are not backward compatible indefinitely.  There is always a break point.

We will beta testing SS6 for Android next week, and we can certainly use your help for that.  Please follow the Dev Announcements forum here:

Thanks Keiron, while I can't test AR on iOS any more due to being stuck with 9.3.5 I'll certainly keep a watch out for the Android beta test since I have multiple  Android devices, both older and newer ones.
