I can no longer get SkySafari Plus 5 to launch on my Samsung S8. I have never had problems with it on this device previously, but I usually run SkySafari on an iPad, and use the android version only occasionally, so I do not know exactly when it stopped working.
The startup behavior is as follows : I see the splash screen for about two seconds, followed by the default initial screen of the app, with a "Rate SkySafari Plus" pop up superimposed. Immediately thereafter, the SkySafari screen disappears, and is replaced by a Samsung dialog box "SkySafari 5 Plus has stopped" and offering the option to "Close app" or "Send feedback". If I choose the "Close" option, the app continues to be shown as running until I manually shut it down. Each time I attempt to make that instance active, however, the above sequence repeats.
Phone is a samsung S8, model SM-G950U1, running Android 8.0.0, and Samsung Experience v9. 0.
I am traveling to the southern hemisphere next week and would like to be able to use the app there even when I do not have my iPad with me, if possible. Any suggestions on how I can get past this would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.
