[Bug] When Connected To Push-To Mount And Hide + Reshow Scope Control Panel, The Rate Panel Pops Up (Fixed)

Hello,

I just started using the telescope control with skysafari to control my XT10 intelliscope.   I keep getting a 'rate' window that has the number 1-4 in boxes.  I can't tap on them and the window stays on screen even after I disconnect the scope- what am I missing?   This is using an iPhone with SkySafari Plus.

    John,

I assume this is SkySafari 6 Plus?

we have not seen this problem.  Could you attach a screen capture showing the panel you are talking about?  I assume this must be the rate panel that is displayed right over the Scope Control panel, but I've never seen it not get dismissed.

    Hi Bill,

Here are some screen caps.   The rate panel doesn't show up when I first bring up the scope control or when I connect.  This happens when I dismiss the scope control, then bring it back.

What is the rate panel for?  I can't click on it and I don't understand what it is for.

Once it's up there is no way to get rid of it short of closing and restarting the program.

Here are screen caps- hope this helps.

Thanks for a really amazing piece of software by the way.

OK, I see what you are talking about.  I don't have an Intelliscope to test on here but If I *say* I'm connecting to an Intelliscope but really am just using a basic encoder scope, I don't see this problem.  The rate panel is never shown

Check to be sure the scope type is set to "Orion Intelliscope" and the mount type is set to "Alt-Az Push To".

This scope doesn't have GoTo, does it?

Did you use SkySafari 5?  If so,  assume it didn't happen there?

Do you still have 5 installed.  Could you see if you see the same behavior there?

unfortunately not- I deleted it after I upgraded.  I just checked the app store to see if it was available but it's not.   I'm happy to try that if there is a way you can send me the installer for 5.

You can always reinstall SS5 for iOS by looking at your list of "purchased" apps.

If you can't easily re-install it I can probably still figure this out.  But it would be nice to know if this is an old bug or something introduced in SS6.

Looks like maybe I had an older version.  it says skysafari pro from 2012 and won't let me download- the cloud button is grayed out.

I just got back to this (we've been putting out the Android release).  I *can* reproduce this.  I had missed your comment:

The rate panel doesn't show up when I first bring up the scope control or when I connect.  This happens when I dismiss the scope control, then bring it back.

That is the secret sauce.  If I'm connected to a push to mount and hide and reshow the scope control panel, the rate panel pops up.  Amazing that no one has reported this before.  I will get it fixed.  We will probably put out a new iOS release in a couple of weeks.
