I made up an observing list, opened actions and settings, tapped email observing list, and nothing (well, the white circle chasing its tail and then nothing).

I'm not sure how to debug this. I have tried emailing on a variety of devices and never have seen a problem. Actually, that is not totally true. I notice that if I cancel out of emailing, the spinning circle persists. I can look into that.
I assume you waited at least 10 seconds? I have seen it take a while for the email app to come up.

Yes, I did wait and no joy. I still have SS5 on the tablet and this feature works.

OK, I will look into this tomorrow. In the meantime, if you have a registered (not premium) LiveSky account, you can download your observing lists from there. Click the observing list and use the download button.

It is weird. I also have a Nexus 7 2013 running 6.0.1. I can email observing lists just fine from that. I can only assume it has something to do with your tablet's configuration or other software installed.
After this fails, could you restart the app and send me a log file. Do this by using the "Email log file" entry at the bottom of the Help screen. Send it to "bill@simcur.com". In the body, just say a few words to remind me of your problem.
