SkySafari 6 Pro | After Observations Logged, Show Observations Returns: "0 Observations For Object"

SkySafari 6 Pro Version 6.1.0

MacBook Air macOS High Sierra 10.13.6

I've created two separate observations for M97 in two different observing lists.  When I go to each list and click on M97 and click on "Edit Observation" I can see each observation.  I can see both the observations in LiveSky.

However, if I look at the info for M97 and click on "data", "more", "show observations", it returns "0 observations for object"

Something is wrong here.

I just tried to reproduce this and was unable to.  Could you take a screen capture of the Observation screens for the two?  Maybe that will give me a hint as to what is unusual about your situation.

If that doesn't work, we may have to ask for permission to examine your data.

    Joe,

I'm looking into your problem now (we have your data cloned).  What are the two lists with M97 observations.  I might be able to find them, but you do have 112 lists.

    Bill,

M97 is observed in my Messier Marathon and Ursa Major observing lists.

    Thanks,

    Joe

Unfortunately (or fortunately depending on you point of view), when I did "Show Observations" for M97, I see the two observations.  So your data is not lost.

I will discuss with our database person if she can think of how this could happen.  Hang on....

I see them both now also.  I am at a loss why they didn't show up previously.

Well that's good.  I'm not sure what is happening but we will keep an eye out for problems.

I was going to suggest quitting the app and deleting the local database.  Then when the app starts it will download a fresh copy from LiveSky.  You shouldn't ever have to do that, but it is one way to get a fresh copy.

    Joe,

Just to be clear, the observations your were previously unable to find, these were created on the Mac, correct?

We think we have identified one potential problem where if the data is created on another client (say iOS) then the first time you log into the account on Mac it takes a while for all the data to be downloaded and synced properly.  During this process the UI could show some observations as missing until the sync completes.  If you have a lot of data (as you do) this can take a while.

But if you created the observations on the Mac then I don't think this explains what you saw.

The 2018 observation was created on an iPad.  The 2014 observation was created on my Mac.

I'm trying to avoid going back to your data to see which was the 2018 observation and which was the 2014.  Are you saying the problem was present on the Mac on an observation created on the Mac as well as on an observation created on iOS?  I wouldn't think the syncing delay would explain it if it was created on the same platform as it appeared wrong on.

The problem was present on the Mac on an observation created on the Mac as well as on an observation created on iOS.
