I don't think this would be a big deal to implement. Currently, the angular separation between two objects can only be given in deg, min, and sec; e.g. 41d, 11m, 15s. It would be useful if there was the option of having the separation in decimal degrees, e.g. 41.235 deg. We use Starry Night for an astronomy lab in which we find the maximum western or eastern elongations of the inner planets, and then use those to find the distance to these planets (as Copernicus did). Currently, students have to convert to decimal degrees, so this would save a step.
