Please Someone Verify That SkySafari 6 Plus/Pro On macOS Can Be Used To Control A EQ6/5 Mount Via The SynScan Pro App + SynScan WiFi Adapter? (Answer: Verified, Yes It Works!)

Hi,

I know that the Synscan Wifi Adapter and Synscan Pro App is not supported officially but ... I have Sky Safari 6 Plus iOS on my iPad and it will drive my EQ6/5 Synscan Wifi Mount via the Synscan Pro App on my iPhone - so that is great. :-)

But before I buy the MacOS version of Sky Safari 6 Plus ...

Please can someone verify that they have Sky Safari 6 Plus/Pro on MacOS driving their mount via the Synscan Pro app and the Synscan WiFi adapter?

Thx

Terry

    All - VERIFIED!

As I couldn't get Stellarium to talk to my Synscan WiFi device I eventually bit the bullet and bought Sky Safari 6 Plus for macOS - Phew - It works!

You still need a 'second' device as with Sky Safari 6 Plus for iOS. So I have my iPhone running Synscan Pro - then my MacBook Pro runs Sky Safari 6 Plus with the normal Synscan WiFi communication settings of 192.164.4.2 and Port 11882 - Connects and hey presto! They both have to be on the Synscan WiFi Network of course. For info I aligned the mount using Synscan Pro first, then connected to Sky Safari.

Went down well with its first Outreach event with kids asking how the scope was moving!

Well pleased! All I need now is the single device solution. ;-)

    Cheers

PS Quick Tip for any iPhone users - You can use the Accessibility Settings to setup Colour Filters (to red) and White Point (to low) and use the Triple Click to get the Accessibility Shortcut to Activate - The Colour Filter sets the WHOLE screen so you don't get the White Status Bar at the top. :-)
