[Bug]* Observe -> Equipment -> Telescopes -> Add or Edit Telescope -> Edit Focal Length = User Telescope Panel Appears Frozen

Hi Keiron,

It is not just the Focal length field with which the issue lies.

Below is a more precise description of the process of testing I have carried out.

Model Name Entry

If one, only enters the Model Name of the telescope (nothing else), and then clicks on the Entry dialogue box ‘OK’. Then the Entry dialogue box closes normally.

When the User Telescope list dialogue box’s ‘OK’ is clicked the User Telescope list dialogue closes normally.

Manufacture Entry

If one, only enters the Manufacture of the telescope (nothing else) and then clicks on the Entry dialogue box ‘OK’. Then the Entry dialogue box closes normally.

When the User Telescope list dialogue box’s ‘OK’ is clicked the User Telescope list dialogue does not close and the program appears frozen.

However, by clicking once on the SN8 icon on the Windows OS Task Bar and then clicking the ‘OK’ on the User Telescope list dialogue box’s ‘OK’ the Telescope list dialogue box will now close normally.

Note: no need to minimise theSN8 window.

Aperture Entry

If one, only enters the Aperture of the telescope, the program behaves as described for Manufacture Entry.

Focal Length Entry

If one, only enters the Focal Length of the telescope, the program behaves as described for Manufacture Entry.

NOTE Entry

If one, only enters the a note for the telescope, the program behaves as described for Manufacture Entry.

Further, I tried editing the data for a telescope using the Edit option from the User Telescope dialogue panel. The same problem occurs for the fields;

Manufacture, Aperture, Focal Length and Note.

In addition, I found similar problems with when entering or editing: Barlows/Reducers, Binoculars/Finderscopes, Cameras… and Eyepieces.

In each, entering or editing the Model Name field works as normal when closing the associated panel. However, if any of the other fields are amended either to enter new data or up-date data then the associated panel will not close as normal. The SN8 icon on the Windows OS Task bar needs to be clicked once before the associated panel will close as normal when it’s ‘OK’ is clicked.

I hope this makes the issue a bit clearer and assists you in fixing this bug.

Regards

Joe Downs
