How To Email or Print An Observing List With Observations In SkySafari 6 Pro When Not Syncing Via LiveSky? (Answer: Currently Not Possible Without Syncing To LiveSky)

I just finished a list I was working on in SS6 Pro, when I went to email the observing list, I got a pop up box saying Can Not Email List Names XYZ the list does not yet exist on the server. How do I email the list with the observations? I am reluctant to use LiveSky as when I originally did this it added multiple copies of the same lists to SS6 from SS5 so I turned it off.

Thank you

Cindy

I have another thought...I can go into Livesky and try ro email from there. I deleted SS6 from my old ipad and that may have been the issue of why I was getting multiple lists? If I dont hear anything else here I will try that.

I just realized its in the Cloud. This worries me that the cloud will try to put the data back into my current SS6 program. Is there a way to clear that first?

Are you "Warmvet" on Cloudy Nights?  I think I've been answering your questions there.

I have moved this thread to SkySafari iOS apps since "General Forum Feedback" was not the appropriate place for it.

Hi Cindy, SS6 Pro relies on the LiveSky server when emailing ObservingLists, and we don't currently have a way to email lists that only exist on your device.

It might make more sense to try and trouble shoot the issues you have experienced when turning on LiveSky Backup. If you imported data from SS5 on more than one device, that would certainly explain why you had duplicate ObservingLists.  However, if duplicates continue to persist even after being deleted, that represents a different problem.

Can you tell us more about your experience with backing up to LiveSky and what went wrong?

Bill, yes I am warmvet and thanks for explainng why the questions was not answered here and thanks for answeing on CN

Ros, I had not used SS6 in the past even though I had purchased it when it first came out. On my old ipad 2, it used up a lot of energy so I went back to SS5 pro. I just purchased a new ipad Pro and SS6 Pro runs very well on my new devise so I decided to start using it. I sent over all my observing lists from SS5 via email to put into it. Very easy to do as it has been in the past. I then opened Livesky after creating an account. When I went back to SS6 there were 3 different copies of the same list there. I deleted SS6 from my old ipad since it never wprked well there anyway and then I went into the new SS6 and turned off the icloud storage. Everything was ok after that. I still have 2 devises running SS5 pro, and the new devise running SS6. I really dont know why it was trying to duplicate all my observing lists. I think it may be helpful for Livesky to ask if you want to add another observing list instead of the sync function.

And in truth, if going into Livesky doesnt allow me to print my obserations then its not useful to me anyway so I am fine with leaving it off. As I said before the list I was able to email myself from Livesky has information in it (this is the list that starts with julian date), but I cant get it into a decent page format. Page preview showed 96 pages to print..

I hope you will consider the request for emailing the list with observations. I am sure there are many people like myself that like to print them for programs they are involved with or sharing with someone else. I have finished 11 AL programs and I like that I can have my observations, dates, equipment used etc to print and either email or snail mail. I have always appreciated SS5 Prom for that ability.

    Thank you both,

    Cindy

I just checked today and even though I deleted the multiple observing lists added into the observing lists section, now when I look for a specific observation from the list ( or any of my lists) it will still bring up multiple (on one there were 9) duplicate observations. I have a lot of observations and cant go in manually to delete each one. Originally when I had the problem and before I started putting new obs into SS6,  I deleted the app entirely and started over with icloud backup off. Now I cant do than anymore since I have about 70 new observations in SS6 and I would have to go through icloud to do it..

Any ideas on a fix for that problem?

I think I understand why this happened,  just not sure how to fix it. I emailed all my observing lists from SS5 to myself and put them into SS6. When I turned on livesky it added multiple copies of the same lists. Since I cant edit the lists online it thinks I have copies of the same lists and adds them.

Is there a way to edit whats there in livesky (without paying a monthly subscription) so that it would possibly remove the multiple observations from my ipad SS without having to delete the app and add about 70 objects worth of information? Trying to come up with a solution..

    last questions...

It may be worth it for me to subscribe for 1 month to Livesky in order to see if I can delete the multiple observations on my ipad. (please see details above)

    1) If I delete observing lists on Livesky, and then turn on my icloud backup on my ipad, will my ipad SS6 reflect the changes solving the duplicates problem?

    2) Can I just unsubscribe from Livesky afterwards, its worth $2.99 for me to try it. There is not a lot of information about this on the site

    Hi Cindy,

    1) If you delete observing lists on Livesky and turn on iCloud backup, your iPad should reflect the changes.

    2) You could certainly sign up for just one month, or sign up for the two week free trial.

    Thanks Ros,

problem is even though I deleted the lists, the observations still remain and there are 300+ pages of them, probably 1/4 of them duplicates associated with NO list. I can screen shot some if that helps...

I tried to manually delete them, forget it. It takes 10-15 seconds per observation to delete it and I dont see a way to do multiple deletions at one time...
