How Can I Control An iOptron IEQ45 Pro Using SkySafari 6 Pro + MacBook Pro + USB 3?

Before I purchase the full version of SkySafari for my MacBook Pro, I want to check that I'll be able to connect it directly to (and control) my Ioptron IEQ45Pro mount.

The laptop has the small USB style connectors (type C, I believe). I have a regular USB to RS232 converter.

My questions are:

1. Can I control my mount using direct wired connection between laptop and mount?

2. If so, which wires would go where?

 

IF NOT:

Are there any plans/instructions to make a SkyFi type device using a Raspberry Pi. I do not want to splurge $200 for a wifi go-between.

    Hi Charlie, 

    You need a USBtoSerial cable that has a macOS driver written specifically for you version of macOS.

    You need an iOptron-speicifc SerialtoRS232 cable, like this:

    That will do it.
