specific magnitude limits for solar system

How can I set a magnitude limit of e.g. 14mag for the smaller telescopic moons of Jupiter and Saturn, while AT THE SAME TIME limit visibility of artificial earth satellites to magnitudes of e.g. 5mag?

I believe moons and satellites are both controlled via the solar system magnitude limit in settings, which means you probably have to pick one or the other.

I agree with Roland, that this would be a very useful feature since I have noticed that the shear number of artificial satellites takes quite a bit of computing resource so I also find I need to keep them limited to ~ 4 mag on my Nexus 7 2013's to prevent lag

& in case anyone comes here looking for ways to have smooth lag free SS5 & 6 performance on Nexus 7 2013 like devices, I also need to limit the mag of DSOs to a reasonable level if I have checked the setting to have them visible at 'wide FOV' ...

In my case I am now using SS6pro rather than SS5pro.  I am very positively impressed with what SS5 & 6 pro can do smoothly on a Nexus 7 2013 & very much like the UI improvements in SS6.

The reason why I would like to limit the magnitude is not the performance of SS5Pro (I am quite happy with it on my Samsung Galaxy S7), but because I find the huge number of satellites distracting, especially in a large FOV. As soon as I set the limiting magnitude for the moons (for Saturn) to 15 mag, then I also get thousands of artificial satellites orbiting Earth displayed - even in full sky (180 deg FOV) views...

It would be useful if the limiting magnitude of solar system bodies could be set to scale with the actual FOV, as it is done for stars and selectable for deep sky objects.

Overall: Sky Safari 5 Pro is a great App! This is the only minor problem I have with it so far.

Maybe it is solved in SS6 Pro?

    Hi Roland,

In my experience even the N7 2013 handled all the artificial satelites ok in SS5pro,

but in SS6pro I need to limit them on that type of device.  I just looked through the settings again in SS6pro & did some zooming in & out...

limiting magnitude of solar system bodies still does not scale with the actual FOV in SS6pro...I agree that would be a very useful feature addition.

    Kind regards, Chadwick
