It used to work on my Mac but now when I try to start the program, I keep getting a message "Verifying "SkySafari 6 Pro.app"" over and over again. I'm running macOS Mojave 10.14.5. I've tried a simple reinstall, and a delete and reinstall, to no avail.

Michael Coleman Hello? Isn't this a support forum?
-
Keiron Smith Hi Michael,
Did you purchase any IAPs for SS6 Pro recently?
Thanks for your patience.
-
Michael Coleman Hmm, not that I recall, although it is possible I may have purchased one of the extension databases on my iPhone or iPad a while back. How would I determine this? I should add that the app runs fine on both my iPhone and iPad, just not on my iMac.

Keiron Smith Hi Michael,
Please attach a screenshot of the error message, that also shows the icon in the dock, and also, showing the icon in the Applications folder.
You are reinstalling from the OS X App Store, correct?
Thanks!

Michael Coleman I’ve included two screenshots because the bouncing icon in the dock only appears when the “verifying” message goes off, and they toggle back and forth endlessly.
I just reinstalled from the App Store again since there has recently been an update, to no avail. As for the confusion about "a simple reinstall," that's my mistake; I was conflating this and another unrelated problem I've been having. Regarding the problem at hand, I've reinstalled only from the App Store, of course.
I hope this helps.
Thanks,

Michael Coleman Is there any further information I can provide?

Keiron Smith Hi Micheal,
Unfortunately, I do not know what the issue is, nor how to resolve. We have no other reports of this issue. macOS 10.14 is totally supported, and the best suggestion I could offer you have already done - reinstalling the application. This is more challenging because SkySafari being installed via the Mac AppStore - which is supposed to, in effect, by pass the gatekeeper security challenges.
Are you running any other security software?
In macOS System Preferences > Security & Privacy > General > what have you selected for:
Allow apps downloaded from:
- AppStore
- AppStore & identified developers
Try the other option, see if that helps.
Also, you might want to try running the app in Safe Mode:

Keiron Smith Hi Micheal,
Still waiting for your reply.
Thanks!

Michael Coleman Well, I tried both of the options for allowing downloads, to no avail. Then I tried the Safe Mode and, lo and behold, it ran, albeit very slowly and jerky...
-
Keiron Smith Are you running any other security software?
-
Michael Coleman Nothing other than the iMac's built-in protection, whatever that is. I tried it having turned the firewall off. That made no difference.
-
Michael Coleman Would it have anything to do with having purchased the upgrade on my iPad or iPhone? I don't know that I did, but just wondering.
-
Keiron Smith iOS and macOS are unrelated.
Please try deleting and reinstall the app when in Safe Mode.
-
Michael Coleman Done, but no change. :-(
-
Keiron Smith What is the longest you have left the app in the "verifying" stage? Can you try leaving it for hours, perhaps overnight? Maybe it will complete after a long time.
-
Keiron Smith Please also try Googling for solutions, search for "macOS app verifying forever" and similar search queries. I found this result.

There are likely more discussions out there in cyberspace.

Michael Coleman I'll give these ideas a try and let you know.
