SkySafari 6.6.0.1 Crash Using AR In Compass Mode (Answer: Fixed In 6.6.2.4 Update)

New v 6.6.0.1 of SkySafari Pro 6: Selecting "AR" in compass view will cause app to close/crash instead of using iPhone Camera. (permissions are granted to app to use camera). Issue also still present in last update 6.6.1.3

I downloaded the app yesterday and I'm having the same problem. I'm on iOS 13.3 with an iPhone 6s.
In iPhone setting the camera does not appear

I downloaded Sky Safari 6 Pro yesterday, and have the same problem (touching the “AR” in Compass View causes app to crash). I've tried it on both my iPhone 11 and my iPad Pro, both using iOS 13.3, and get the same result.

I concur - AR mode consistently crashes in this latest update 6.6.0.1.

Not a good update, too many things are now broken.  See my bug report for other items that I’ve identified.

Using updated version Sky Safari Pro 6.6.1 (reinstalled)

    iOS 13.3 (up to date)

iPhone 11 Pro (256GB) and iPad 9.7 Pro

Selecting Compass in Toolbar and then AR icon causes Application to exit/crash.

Augmented Reality is the first feature in the comparison list of the three versions AR, Plus and Pro

So this feature really should work?

FWIW, the iOS Settings for the camera do NOT include Sky Safari 6 - search "Camera Privacy". Also the application does not request access to the Camera e.g. after installing/reinstalling the application, but before attempting to use the AR facility.

FWIW, the AR Toolkit can be verified with other Applications e.g. Star Walk 2. In Star Walk 2 select the Compass in top LHS. The Camera icon appears on the top RHS. Clicking on the Camera icon first requests permission to use the Camera. Afterwards, the Camera is successfully used to add the background to the display. If the access in the Settings is altered e.g. to remove the permission to use the camera, using the action invokes a dialog in the Application. NB none of these actions are observed in Sky Safari 6 Pro.

What this means for me, I don't consider the updates to be fully functioning software and I've requested a refund from the App Store. I will use the least expensive version available pending a fix being available. The Pro version should (like all the versions) provide a good experience, which is currently missing.

Yes! I’m on a regularly updated iPhone 7plus and the AR in Compass used to be a great feature! They need to fix it soon.
