Help, I've got the Jitters! Why Is Compass Mode Shaking All The Time? (Answer: Read On!)

Hi there, 

I've been using Sky Safari pro for years and am now using SkyS 6 Pro and it's been fine until the other week when the app started jittering or shaking when I point it up to find an object or pan around the sky. It keeps doing this until I disengage the search/pan mode and manually move the view or pinch in.

SkyS is a critical part of my observing fun as I use the "Setting Circles" in to help me star hope to my target and I'm really hoping this problem can be solved...

    Hi Jeremy, 

    In SkySafari Settings > Appearance and Behavior > Tilt to Use Compass < uncheck this option.

    Hi there, 

    If I understand you correctly, I have to disable one of the main features of this app to stop it shaking?

    It exhibits this behaviour anytime I engage the compass whether by tilting or manually, is there anything else I can try that would allow the app to work normally?

    If you're using a magnetic case you can try taking the case off.  That would help.

    You can also try to resolve the issue like this:

    1. Uninstall the app
    2. Using a file browser, go to the top level of the SD card and RENAME the directory "SkySafari 6 Plus" as "SkySafari 6 Plus-old"
    3. Now reinstall the app and try again.

    If it's still broke then maybe the issue originates with the hardware in your device.

    Hi there, 

    Thanks for getting back to me about this issue, I have tried the steps you've listed but unfortunately, I can't shake the jitters! I have also downloaded the standard version of the app but this too has the shakes, so it must be a conflict with the iPhone somewhere.

    Hopefully it'll sort itself out with updates from one side or the other in the future.
