Errors in French version of SkySafari 6 Pro

I have a serious issue to submit. The relatively new French version of SkySafari (had the english version on my Ipad and without me asking, was switched to the french version) is FULL of issues. An incredible one that I just found out is so basic! The names of constellations Aquarius and Pisces are BOTH translated to the same name ("Poissons"). Such a mistake is simply not acceptable.
Also in many instances in the description of objects, sentences start in French and end in English.... So wrong! And some of the description of objects are just not in good French to the point it is sometimes just not understandable -- it is just as if the translation is done by AI without any human verification.
Until the French version is fixed, I would like to go back to the English version. Please tell me how to do that.

    Hello everyone,

We are making an effort to improve the French translation and would ask for your help. Please list any errors you find in a comment in this thread, and we will do our best to address them. (We have a professional translation service who will be helping us out, who have experience with astronomy, but the application is big, so the more eyes on it, the better.)

Even better, note the issues in a list format:. Par example:

iOS > Pro > Settings > Deep Sky > Show Objects

Android > Plus > etc. etc.

    Merci!

    Hi Alain,

At this time, SkySafari switches language based on your OS language priority.  So, switch your OS language priority to English when you want to use SkySafari in English.  A future update will include a button in SkySafari that will allow for choosing the language irrespective of the OS language priority.

We are certainly open to all feedback regarding any errors in translation.  Please document all issues here and we will have them reviewed for a future app update.

Thank you for your efforts and reporting.

My iPad is set in French... so is my iPhone... this afternoon, preparing a presentation, I asked SF 6 Plus to find M2... I got as a result that M2 is located in the constellation Poissons (Pisces) since it is in Verseau (Aquarius)... I have to say, being French and having worked in PR, that the French version of the app is so..so.. not that good... I changed the language of the iPad and in English... M2 is in Aquarius... How can I change the language of the app and still use my iPad... iPhone in French?

    Andre,

We plan to add that option in a future update, to switch language without having to switch the entire OS, maybe it will come with SS7, whenever that is released, probably 2021.

SS5 is not getting any further updates, sorry.

Please also be specific about the translation issues.  What does it say, what did you expect it to say, what would make it better?

    Thanks sooo much!

It simply put Messier 2 in the onstellation that it is naming Pisces instead of Aquarius… like all the other objects in the constellation…
This is a major error…!This is one that I saw, there may be others…

Does this mean that to have this corrected, and have a correct French version, I will have to wait SS7 and pay for it… It is really a shame if it is…!

Learning the sky is quite an endeavour.  I am glad I learned it before I had SkySafari.  The French version is so full of errors (just like the one found by André) which a beginner would just not be able to know they are errors...  In the description of objects, starting a sentence in French and ending it it in English is frequent in SF Pro. But that is nothing compared to not naming constellations correctly. I stopped using SF in French, changing my OS to English when using SF.  But it is a shame to have to do this (and also somewhat time consuming) and I would add almost insulting to have to do it.  The intention of providing the app in multiple languages is great, but the result -- at least in French -- is less than acceptable.  I still use SF as it is a very good app, but please do not make us non English speaking people feel as second rate astronomers!!!  Please accept this as a constructive criticism... as it is.  I actually like SkySafari Pro and it is my preferred planetarium in the field.  But not in French !
