Why Does The Celestron SkyPortal App Successfully Connect When SkySafari 6 Pro Can Not? (Answer: Select ScopeType: Celestron WiFi)

I have a Celestron 8se, starsense, and a third generation Sky Portal module. I downloaded the free Sky Portal app which connects to my Galaxy Tab 2 fine, but both my Pro 5 and Pro 6 refuse to connect. A black box that states connection failure, and asks if I am using bluetooth or wifi. I know the setup is correct because Sky Portal connects. All I get on the pro 5 and pro 6 when I touch telescope is a toolbar with connect, goto and lock. No connect and align. What am I missing? Clear Skies, Joe

    Joe,

If you do not see "Connect & Align" then you have not selected ScopeType: Celestron WiFi

The SkyPortal app can ONLY connect to Celestron WiFi, and so that is why it successfully connects every time.

SkySafari 6 Pro can connect tons of different scopes, so the type of connection must be specified in ScopeType.

Please check, confirm, and reply with your result.

    Thanks!

    Hi, Keiron,
Under scope type, it was marked
Celestron NexStar GPS/SLT/SE. I changed it to Celestron Wi-Fi, will try it and get back to you. Thanks so much.

This solution was offered by someone in your CN post, but I think you overlooked it.

No, I stupidly misunderstood it! I thought he he was referring to the wifi connection. I posted him this morning about my error and thanked him.
    Thanks again
