SkySafari 6 Pro On macOS 0.11.6 El Captain Fails To Download Minor Body Orbit Updates (Answer: Fixed!)

My copy of SkySafari Pro 6 Mac (App Store version) is suddenly unable to update "Update Minor Body Orbit Data." It was working fine prior, and my Mac is connected to the internet and the web browser/mail continues to work fine, so my basic connectivity seems to be OK. I'm running Mac OS X v 10.11.6. I also note that "Import From Online Depository" returns a blank frame; previously it had worked fine also. I suspect that a settings file for SkySafari Pro has been corrupted somewhere, but I have been unable to find it. Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance,

    I’m also seeing this.
I have the latest version of SkySafari Pro running on two computers. One of them is running MacOS El Capitan the other is running Mojave. The version on Mojave is operating properly, but the version on El Capitan cannot get minor body orbit data or see the “Import From Online Repository” data.
When trying to update minor body orbit data SkySafari immediately returns a dialog box stating “Downloaded 0 bytes; updated 0 solar system objects“.
The minor body orbit data was last updated on December 20, 2018. This is about the time that I started using the newer computer running Mojave.

You've exactly described what I'm seeing. I too immediately get the dialog "Downloaded 0 bytes; updated 0 solar system objects." I interpret this to mean that SkySafari Pro is not even trying to look for the external orbit data. I have a desktop iMac in the house also running SkySafari Pro 6, in my case with macOS 10.13.6 High Sierra. It runs fine using the same internet and WiFi connection. So did my older MacBook running El Capitan for a while, then without warning (or any changes to SkySafari Pro) it stopped. Not sure what's going on, but seems unlikely to me to be a system problem.

It looks to me like one of the recent SkySafari updates broke the compatibility with the El Capitan OS.
Time for a developer to step in and have a look.

I'd even be willing to try a "scorched earth" removal of the app package, settings files, etc. and then reinstall to see if that solves the problem. I tried reinstalling from the App Store once, but that failed to work, as my preferences were still there afterward, try as I might to find the right .plist file(s) to remove. Instructions on where to find all of the relevant settings and data files for SkySafari on OSX 10.11.6 would be appreciated.

Hi all, thanks for your patience on this.  We have resolved a problem with our server certificate that was only manifesting on OSX 10.11 installs.  It should be fixed now - please try again.
