I have created a User Defined Object and saved it as per the facilities in the App. Initially after closing the App, and then opening it, the User defined object was correctly in the database. A windows 10 update then seems to disable this feature as after a couple of days, I no longer can find the once saved User Defined Object, and every time I start the App I have to re-enter the object into the database from scratch. Has anyone come across this fault before?

Keiron Smith Hi David,
Please provide a workflow for how you are entering the user defined object. Include screenshots with menu options, selections, panels, etc.
Thanks!

David Ford Thanks Keiron.
There was an update issued to SN8 recently which I was prompted to install 4 days ago on starting the App. This I did, and the problem I described above went away completely. On that day I was able to open and close the app and the multiple objects that I defined were stored and were recoverable after shutdown and restart of the App. THEN HOWEVER, the next day the App refused to Open at all and prompted me to send a dump to support. My system baseline is a new Win 10 installation with masses of HDD & system RAM and all MS system updates installed. So I then removed the entire SN8 App and reinstalled from the links provided me when I bought the software, reinstalled the recent SN8 Update (as it prompted me), but the App still refuses to open, crashes and prompts for a dump to support. I then repeated this process but did not install the SN8 update (as option prompted) but the App still refuses to open and offers me an option to send a dump to SC support. It seems as if my initial problem was identified, a fix was issued, but the fix has now broken something else. I have been exchanging details with a support email address at SC (order numbers etc). I trust this problem can be rectified, as I have no access to my material which is very annoying as it is delaying my work. I would attach screenshots of menu options etc, but as I have noted, I cannot even get into the App any more. I Appreciate your efforts.

Keiron Smith Hi David,
If you "reinstalled from the links provided me when I bought the software" then you would have downloaded and installed version 8.1. So, you would not receive a prompt to update to 8.1.
Are you sure you download a brand new installer?
Please try re-downloading another new installer, just in case.
Thanks!

David Ford Hi Keiron,
The link in the purchase email downloads Starry_Night_Pro_8.0.6.1979. Obviously not V8.1 I can't find a link to download 8.1 on the SC site. I would be a little disappointed if I have to pay for an upgrade when the software never worked properly to start with, and even now when I start this version of the App the whole thing crashes and does not even see the startup screen. What do I do next?

David Ford Keiron,
I went to this link
https://www.starrynight.com/retrieve/index.php
and requested lost registration information emailed back to me. It provided me a link to download the V8.1 which I installed after uninstalling V8. This version of the App also fails to open and prompts me for a dump to support which I have done. So V8.1 is no better. Where do I go from here??? Separately, obviously this email exchange has revealed the way to attain V8.1 or update versions beyond their purchased product, but perhaps this should be spelt out on the main website so others avoid the downtime.Regds

Keiron Smith Would you mind letting me remote your computer?

David Ford Hi Keiron,
Very happy for you do do this. What time EST is convenient to achieve this? (Remember that being on the East Coast of Australia, I am generally out for the night from 8am EST-4pm EST)

Keiron Smith David,
How that we have SN8 back up and running on your computer please provide a workflow for your initial issue - how you are entering the user defined object. Include screenshots with menu options, selections, panels, etc.
Thanks!
