I have a SkyBT unit that I used with my Meade LX200 before deforking the scope. Can I use this to control a new Meade ETX80 scope with AudioStar hand controller. If so do I connect the serial cable to the AUX port on the mount or to the part in the handpiece or either? Thanx Pat

Keiron Smith Hi Pat,
Yes, you can use SkyBT with your Meade ETX80. Connect via the port on the bottom of the hand controller.
Thanks!

Patfjwalters TRhank you for the answer about where to connect. As I said above I am using an old serial cable that I used on my LX200 back in the day which seems to be incorrect for the new Audiostar handbox. It appears everything is working except Sky Safari cant connect to the scope. A search of the internet reveals there are several serial cables out there for example a 4 pin to 4 pin cable, another one appears to be a 4 pin to 6 pin cable etc. maybe others. The 4 pin to 6 pin is the one Meade says to use for the Audiostar Handbox to interface with a computer. Is this the correct cable for the SkyBT? Do I connect the 4 pin side to the RS232 connector and the 6 pin side to the handbox? Or is there something else I need for the SkyBT unit.
Thanx Again for the help
Pat

Keiron Smith Hi Pat,
Please see here: https://www.skysafariastronomy.com/products/skyfi/serial.html
Looks like the LX200 is 6pin, and the ETX is 4 pin. We sell the Meade serial cable here:
https://store.simulationcurriculum.com/collections/scope-control/products/telescope-serial-cable
Although you are using SkyBT the setup is the same as in the SkyFi image below.
Thanks

Martinnewbold Mn I dont think it will work I had same connection issues on Android initally with my LX90 Kierion said he will not support Meade so suggest you go else where unless he changes his mind. Connection over Wifi is still a bit odd if you stand to close .

Keiron Smith Celestron has paid for the development costs associated with their special WiFi alignment operations. That is why Celestron WiFi is supported in that special way.
SkySafari + SkyFi 3 works perfectly with all Meade telescopes when the Meade mount is aligned via the hand controller first.
This is also how SkySafari works with almost every other mount on the market.
Meade is supported fully, as it always has been.
Martin, if your Meade hand controller is broken then you need to get another one.
Sorry.
