Not sure when this stopped working, but I can no longer view DSS Images in SkySafari 6 Pro 6.7.2 on MacOS Big Sur. Clicking on the drop-down just does nothing now. I can find nothing in the console log messages, or the debug output from the application when running from the command line. Is this a known issue?

Chris I'm also experiencing this on Android, very hit or miss if I can get an object to show the DSS image. A direct link from an old forum post still seems to open up the site that SS pulls from, but within the app it isn't working. Also checked SS6 Pro and it also isn't working any longer.

Tom Zepf This is with any object. Works fine on iOS, but I have two macs running Big Sur that won't display any DSS images. I have another mac running Catalina and it works fine.

Chris I meant to say SS5 Pro. It seems very hit or miss, some objects on 6 pro on my phone don't work, others don't work on my tablet (couple versions behind) but still 6 pro, and then nothing on 5 pro.

So, we can only really look at fixing SS6 issues.

Chris Bringing up SS5 and multiple versions of SS6 having problems was really to say maybe it's with the source being used and not the individual version.

I suspect that this is either an issue with your internet provider / router blocking the URL/service that we use to retrieve the images (https://archive.stsci.edu/cgi-bin/dss_search?e=J2000&c=none&h=60.000000&w=60.000000&f=GIF&r=83.850000&d=-5.450000&v=phase2_gsc1), or perhaps some other problem between your router and there.
If you can't get that link to show you an image in your browser, unfortunately there might be a problem on your end.

Tom Zepf OK, I've got a bit more data to work with. I'm pretty sure there is nothing wrong with my internet and ISP. What I do suspect is some sort of intermittent graphics issue. Much to my surprise it worked for the first time in quite a while today. After a bunch of experimentation, here is what I found.
- I can always follow that link and get the DSS image in a browser. No internet / ISP issue.
- On first try in SkySafari, it almost never works.
- But, if I click on one of those embedded links in the "Description" section of an object, I do get a full-screen image for that, always.
- Sometimes, after having successfully done #2, The "Show DSS Image" function works thereafter. Not always, but some times.
- Once it starts working, in a given session, it seems to continue to work thereafter.
It's almost as if the DSS Image window isn't being raised to the top and is obscured or something. This is on a MacBook Pro (16-inch, 2019) running MacOS Big Sur, if that helps.

Keiron Smith Thanks for the extra info, Tom. You are unfortunately the only one reporting this issue, which makes isolating and troubleshooting the origin of the issue very challenging.
At least it appears you have discovered a workaround for now.

kevin D Hello, I would like to tell you that the Show DSS Image functionality does not working for mee too on my Mac OS Big Sur 11.5.1. I have disable my Mac Firewall and my internet connection is OK.
When I click on the Show DSS image, nothing appeared. I have the SkySafari 6 Pro.
I tested on Nebulae and Galaxies..
Edit: I can see the DSS image if I click on "selection" menu -> Show DSS Image. After that, it's working all the current session.
