Why Is Starry Night Pro Plus 8 Not Saving Equipment And FOVs? (Answer: Login To And Use LiveSky - Read On!)

I have a ticket into support, but no response as of yet.

I am running Starry Night Pro Plus 8 on a Windows computer. In the past, I was always able to have my equipment and FOV indicators saved and retrieved each time I started the application. Now each time I bring up SNPP my equipment and FOV indicator lists are blank. This is quite a pain as I rely on this feature to check how a particular object will appear on the camera sensor.

Also, I don't see a way to rotate the frame so I can see if there is a particular rotation angle that works best.

Thanks!

    Hi Dale,

This was a known issue if syncing SN8 with SkySafar 6 Plus/Pro.  The issue was resolved in the latest Starry Night update to 8.1.

If you're not running 8.1 please update.

    1. In Help > About SN8 > what version are you running?
    2. What OS?
    3. Please attach screenshots of what you are experiencing if this is still and issue on 8.1.

    Thanks!

    Hi Keiron,

I am running version 8.1.0.2050 on a Windows 10 desktop.

I can enter the equipment and set up the FOVs and save "Current Options as default" and also save the Starry Night file. The equipment and FOV vanishes the next time I start the application.

Here is where I started a session and entered equipment and FOV:

And here is after I closed the app and restarted it:

So unless I'm doing something wrong, it looks like the problem is still there.

    Thanks,

    Dale,

Save current options as default does not save your equipment lists.

Are you using LiveSky?  If you have a LiveSky account all your equipment is backed up (synced) to LiveSky.com.

Check LiveSky.com in a web browser and see if your equipment is listed.

If it is listed on the web, make sure you are logged into LiveSky in Starry Night.

If equipment is listed on the web, but not listed in SN8, and you're already logged into LiveSky in SN8, then logout of LiveSky (in SN8) and log back in again.

    Thanks!

I didn't think I was on Livesky.com but I logged via a browser and all my equipment (plus some I must have added some time ago) were all there. I went to SNPP 8 and logged in and the equipment lists popped up! I closed the app and restarted and they were all there now! I am a happy camper!

If I don't have internet in the field, how can I access my data?
