Im trying to connect from Saxon AZ-EQ6 GT to sky safari 6 pro I just paid for and downloaded on Mac with USB to USB (not serial) and there is no "USB" in the connection drop down.(There is no serial connection on the mount or hand control)
I have tried both USB ports on both the mount and the hand control.
I have tried both with the mount in "PC direct" and normal.
I do not have Wi-Fi.
I read all the help and it says there should be a "USB" option in the drop down but I only have "WiFi or ethernet ..and... Bluetooth"
I followed this thread... https://support.simulationcurriculum.com/hc/user_images/6gkCGibYLlwMFUe5AIOssQ.png
Which also says I should have a USB option in the dropdown.
Any help would be appreciated.

    Mathew,

If you do not see a "USBxxx" option then the USB cable you are using is not being recognized by your computer.

You must use a cable that offers data transfer, i.e, a charging cable will not work.

    Thanks!

    Hi Keiron

I have tried 3 USB cables, including one I specially purchased for this task ensuring it was a Data transfer cable and was advised that USB type 1 to USB type 2 cables are all data transfer cables most commonly used in printer data wired applications. "Charge only" cables in this configuration do not exist.

I have the settings as  follows[ Scope Type, Skywatcher Synscan ...  Mount Type , AltAZ GOTO.

Mount is USB2 (type 2 plug) both in the handset (SynScan) and on the Mount itself. The Mount is new. Any help greatly appreciated.

    Kind regards

    Mat

USB-to-Serial cables have always required a MacOS driver.  And, that driver must be compatible with your version of MacOS.

It may be the case that USB-to-USB cables also require a driver, and that driver must be written specific for your version of MacOS.

Please research whether your cable(s) are compatible with your version of MacOS.

    Thanks!
