[UX Issue]* How To Display The FOV In Equatorial Mode When Not Connected To The Mount?

Hi,

with the new 7.0.1 version of SkySafari 7, i can't display the FOV in equatorial mode in free view, only in AZ.

I search in the preferences, but i can't find a solution. This on iPad Pro and iPhone.

I have correctly configured my telescope in Equatorial (German) mode, twice, but without luck.

While i'm there, is possibile to have a settings for change the color of the FOV and the labels?

Thanks in advance.

I believe this is supposed to be fixed in 7.0.2 (coming soon).

Same here. I noticed, it is rotated only when an equatorial mount, be it the demo interface, is connected 💁‍♂️

    1) What if when you bring up the coordinates speed panel, the FOV indicator orients itself to the pole of the selected coordinate system?

    2) Or should there be an option under Scope Display to select the orientation of your FOV indicators? something like:

Thoughts? Option 2 seems to be the right path forward for me right now.

    I like option 2

I prefer option 2 as well.

Nothing has changed with the new version. The only way to see it in equatorial is to set equatorial from the top menu, but in this way the display changes, the horizon disappears and is simply useless. It is possible to introduce a setting like the one suggested by Pedro (solution 2 would be perfect, and would adapt to any telescope).

    Thanks!

Indeed nothing has changed, so please fix it or make it work like V. 6. It is also important that the FOV indicator can be switched to EQ mode even if the telescope is not connected. And the FOV mode (EQ or AZ) should be independent from the map mode.

    Thx!

Hi, the FOV's and Orientation code is a bit entangled and it was risky to make all the changes at once for 7.0.2.  The plan remains to offer the ability to set the Orientation for individual FOV's - giving maximum flexibility to a variety of user workflows.  So I agree that we do need to include this option in a future update so that FOV can also be oriented independent of sky orientation.  We'll get there.

    Hi,

any (timeline) update on this issue? Indeed, two things are different from SS6 Pro: Setting the default orientation of the FOV indicator and setting a field rotation angle, which is also not possible in SS7 Pro (or I missed it).

    Thx!

Edit: Sorry, I found the field rotation angle setting, and it is even an per-FOV-setting now! Great!
