SkySari pro 7 can connect with wireless connection but the scope won't respond

I have a Celestron CGEM II scope, SkySafari 7 pro, and SkiFi 3.  When I try to connect through SkySafari 7, I get the message that it can detect a wireless connection, but the scope is not responding.  I have made sure that I'm using a data transfer USB mini cord that is connected to the back of the hand controller.  I have spent hours trying to problem solve this issue and I need help.

    Christopher,

    1. Are you star aligning the scope with the hand controller before trying to connect with SS7?  If not, please do so.
    2. What iOS version are you running?
    3. What iOS device?

    Hello,
1- Yes, i am doing a 2 star fake alignment before connecting to Skyfi.
    2- I am using version 15.1
    3- iPad Air 2

I have also tried to connect with my iPhone and I get the same message.  Also, I am using the correct mini USB connector.

    Please attach:

    1. Photos of the SkyFi + USB cable configurations.
    2. Screenshots of your SS7 Telescope Setup panels.
    3. Screenshot of the error message.

    Thanks

Why do you think that the USB-mini serial cable is not the issue?

Please also try with Set Time and Location enabled.

My tech department supplied me with the correct cable.  I also tried using an older hand control from a different Celestron telescope using an RS 232 cable.  I have gotten the same message with everything I tried.  I will try again with the Set Time and Location enabled.

Still, I would ask why do you think that the USB-mini serial cable is not the issue?  Just because the tech department provided you with that cable does not mean the problem can not be with the cable.

    I suggest trying different cables.

    Thanks!

I sense that you're frustrated with me which is very interesting.  I have spent 15 hours trying to get this to work - I'm very frustrated with this situation.  I have tried 6 different USB-mini cables.  I even went out and bought the USB-mini that was recommended.  Same issue - same message.

I am not at all frustrated.  I am asking the same question repeatedly because a confirmation that the cable has been ruled out as a possible origin of the issue, was not provided.  Until now, you have only ever referred to the use of one cable, provided by your tech department.  If you have tried many different cables that is good to know.  But, to be clear, not all USB-mini cables are the same.  Some are only made for charging.  Others for data transfer.  And they come of different quality as well.

Thanks for this important info update!
