How To Configure SS7 + Celestron StarSense + Celestron WiFi? (Answer: Read On!)

Question: What is the connection sequence with and without a Celestron StarSense, Sky Safari 7 and Celestron SkiFi?

Background: The manual says if I am not using a StarSense, do NOT do a mount alignment outside of SkySafari, otherwise the mount and app battle for control. This means that if I do a Nexstar alignment, then I "connect" SkySafari (not "connect and align") I bring all the prior app alignment points into the model and I the battle for control begins = BAD. If I "connect and align" then I wipe out the Nextstar alignment points.

SO...is that the same if I add my StarSense? What I desperately want (to save my aching back) is to launch the StarSense auto-align and then have the StarSense plate solve and then connect SkySafari via SkiFi and control the scope with the app. OR...Launch SkySafari, "Connect and Align" but use the automated StarSense plate solving.

Please advise,

Jack

    Jack,

    1. In SS7 > Telescope Presets > Choose Celestron WiFi.
    2. Connect to Celestron WiFi (via your iOS WiFi network).
    3. In SS7 > Scope (button) > you will be asked to align your StarSense via our app controls.

This is what you are trying to achieve.

    Thanks!

    Jack,

To be clear, the above procedure only works if you are using Celestron WiFi (either via Celestron Evolution built-in WiFi or via Celestron's WiFi module).

If you are using our SkyFi 3 then you must manually align your StarSense (using the Celestron hand controller) and then connect with SS7.

If you are using our SkyFi 3 then you must choose Telescope Preset > Celestron Nexstar.

    Thanks!
