How Come Skysafari 6 Pro Can Connect To StarSense But Scope Is Not Responding, And SkyPortal App Works? (Answer: Latest Version Of SS6 Pro Has Celestron WiFi Connection Issue)

I am a long time user of SkySafari 6 to control a Celestron NexStar Evolution 8 telescope and I have to tell you that I love that combination.  I especially love the integration with LiveSky.  But, SkySafari 6 will no longer connect to my telescope from either my Android phone or my Android tablet.  I have used both successfully in the past.  I have ensured that I have connected via the Celestron-7F wifi connection. But when I connect to the scope I get the following message:  "SkySafari Pro can make a wireless connection to the scope, but the scope is not responding.  Make sure the scope is powered on and connected correctly.  Also make sure you selected the correct scope type."

I can connect without any problems using the latest version of SkyPortal.  I note that the version of SkySarfari was updated in April of this year.

Will there be an updated build to fix this problem?  Below are the versions of software that I am using.

SkySafari Pro Version 6.8.6.16

I have updated my firmware on my telescope to the latest available and the controller shows the following:

StarSence HC;  Ver: 01.22.21333  Bld: Jan 20 2022 14:36:50

Star Sense Camera; Ver 01.02.13343

Motor Control; Mdl: Evolution Ver: 7.17 98

P: System; Ver: 01.01.21333

P: LISA; Ver: 01.01.14072

P: DBOBJ; Ver: 01.01.14294

FYI, I booted up an old phone that I used to use that still had SkySafari 6 Pro Version 6.8.0.6 and that version connected fine to my fine telescope.  So, it certainly appears to be a problem with the latest version.

    Jonathan,

Yes, there is an issue with the latest version of SS6 connecting to Celestron WiFi.

    A new build is coming.

    Thanks for your report!

Ok.  Thank you for the response. I definitely enjoy SS6 and have really missed using it.

Keiron, I have still not seen a build fix for this.  Can you tell me when the fix will be available?  Thank you.

I just encountered this last night, first clear sky in months in Seattle and was bummed to see the Android app not working with my Celestron Evolution 9.25 with Starsense. I found that SkyPortal was working so muddled along for a bit but am missing the more premium experience of SkySafari 6 Pro.

Quick questions, 1. Any sense on when this may get addressed? 2. Is there anyway to downgrade to previous version of the app that works? 3. Are other device platforms working ok, i.e. if I pick up an ipad and buy the app there is that working?

Clear skies are a rare commodity here, just trying to maximize observable days

I want to add my name to what is likely a long list of
Sky Safari 6 users who cannot get it to work with their Celestron 9.25 but that Sky Portal works fine.

I bought SkySafari 7 and it works with Celestron Wi-Fi so I'm good now.

When using SkySafari 7 now, it does not track objects correctly.  Objects quickly drift out of view.  Is anyone else having that problem?
