As a base of comparison I have selected deep sky object up to mag 12 (same in 6) and activated wide field view.
With these options, SF 7 is very slow and sometimes do not center to a target i've searched.
SF6 works fine and fast.

Thanks for your report!
Hi Mathieu,
I've set the deep sky mag to 12 and activated wide field view and it seems ok on a variety of devices I have available to test on. We do include the PGC catalog for free now - so you will likely have many more objects displayed on screen - but it should still perform well. I can also center on objects with ease.
Can you try to reset the sky chart and then set the settings again? Go to Settings, scroll to the bottom and then select "Revert chart to factory defaults". Let me know how it goes.
Note: the GAIA star catalog is also included - if you turn all the stars on, it will likely cause some slowdowns on older devices.
Sorry forgot.
Pixel 3 XL, Sky Safari 7 Pro Android 12.
Tried again, disabled all the stars and I can quicky center to an object but navigating (with fingers) is slow compared to SF6. But still acceptable
Thank you Mathieu. I think one of our other devs has a Pixel 3 - I will ask them to test on that device. Glad things are speedier now.

We can't reproduce this on any Pixel device - 3, 2XL, or 6.
If it is still occurring, can you please attach a log, which you can generate by going to Help, scroll to the bottom, and select 'Email Log File'. You should be able to paste the text of the log file into this post.
I have looked into this on my Galaxy S22 Ultra. Everything works great on it and I think it's just snappy and smooth, but it's one of the latest and greatest flagship devices.
I have SS7 installed on two other devices I have. One is the OnePlus 8 Pro, it still runs Android 11. The other is a Pixel 3XL and it still runs Android 10.
I have noticed a slight difference in how 'buttery smooth" the interface is between the three. The Pixel 3XL in particular is sometimes a little on the sluggish side. I 100% attribute that to the older hardware. Face it, as Android evolves and apps are updated for the new OS, etc. older devices are not going to perform as well. It's just the nature of the beast....
I can also test this further if desired
