[Scope Control] How To Configure SS7 + Celestron CGX WiFi On Android? (Answer: Create A Telescope Preset For Celestron WiFi)

I installed SkySafari7 pro on an Android  Samsung tablet. I got the German version by default perhaps because I do it from Germany. OK for a start.

I use it with Celestron CGX Wifi, as I have successfully done with SkySafari6 pro for a long time.

Scope connect (Verbinden in German) seems to work but the < > slew controls have no effect on the scope.

Setup (Einstellungen in German) shows only two items: log to file, slant to move.  Normally I expect Tracking type sidereal etc, mount type, and all the other scope controls to appear as they do in SkySafari6. Are they perhaps elsewhere in 7?

Also can one switch to english in the App or have to install another version?

Apart from that, the App seemed to affect the tablet so I could not even shut down with the on/off switch. Had to deinstall the App to use the tablet again.

So for now back to 6....

Any suggestions?

  SkySafari language localization aligns with your operating system default language.  Switch your OS to English to see SS7 in English.

  Did you create a Celestron WiFi Telescope Preset?  If so, please include screenshots of your configuration panels.

  Please also attach a screenshot of the "Setup" you mention.

  Thanks for your suggestions. I will try them, just now I am a bit worried to reinstall it after the problem it seemed to cause with the hardware on/off which cost me a lot of headache, but it might not have been the App of course.

  I do not know about Celestron WiFi Telescope Preset at least from SkySafari6 and it did not seem to appear in 7 under Setup.

  In 6 there is Choose Telescope Type which I set to Celestron Wifi, is that what you mean?

  Should I download again before reinstalling in case any updates/fixes of 7 have appeared since I did it on  9 July 2022.

  In SS7 you need to create a preset for Celestron WiFi. If you didn't create the preset then it's not going to work.  Y

  Your scope settings are not synced from SS6 to SS7 via LiveSky.
